Jessica is GOMO’s first full-time Communications Specialist, responsible for all internal and external communications, including the newsletter, digital campaigns, sharing and reporting news and stories within NOAA and to public audiences. Since 2019, Jessica has also helped lead NOAA Research’s annual Women’s History Month digital campaign that showcases the #womenofNOAA with profile interviews.
Jessica has a diverse background in environmental science, marketing and communications, and education and outreach. She cofounded the nonprofit organization Smarty Pants, which has the mission of creating educational media to teach kids science and inspire environmental stewardship. In addition to NOAA, Jessica has government experience at the city level working in water conservation marketing, outreach, and education. Jessica has a BA in Economics from Boston University and a Master’s in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barbara, where she specialized in coastal marine resource management and eco-entrepreneurship.
