Allison Lepp

2024 Knauss Fellow

Allison (Alie) Lepp is a 2024 Sea Grant Knauss Fellow working to support the GOMO Arctic Research Program and Communications teams. Alie earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia in 2023, where her research aimed to improve connections between marine sediment cores collected offshore Antarctic glaciers and processes happening beneath the ice. She has been exploring her interest in science policy through several trainings and fellowships prior to Knauss, including as a COVES Fellow with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (2022) and as an Interagency Affairs intern with the United Nations Environment Programme (2018).

Alie grew up outside of Atlanta and earned her B.S. in Geology from Georgia State University and her M.S. in Earth and Environmental Studies from Montclair State University. She is passionate about the power of inclusive mentorship in polar research, hiking and backpacking whenever possible, keeping up with her yoga practice, and all things fermentation (especially biodynamic wines and sourdoughs).
