GOMO Program Manager Cynthia Garcia will chair two sessions at the 13th NOAA Enterprise Data Management Workshop (EDMW). This fully virtual event, themed “Bridging the Gap: Ensuring Seamless Data Flow from Acquisition to Access,” aims to explore the multifaceted aspects of NOAA data management and its impact on advancing scientific understanding and societal outcomes.

The first session, “Breaking the Ice: Implementing FAIR and CARE Principles in Arctic Data Management,” will highlight the critical role of integrating FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and CARE (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, Ethics) principles to promote a holistic approach to Arctic data stewardship that respects Indigenous perspectives and supports sustainable environmental research.

The second session, “Advancing Data Management, Accessibility, and Usability for Decision-Making: Strategies and Innovations Across NOAA,” will focus on showcasing NOAA’s strategies and innovations that enhance data management to support informed decision-making, illustrating the transformation of data into valuable insights for policy development in marine and atmospheric sciences.
