15th Meeting of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) Observations Coordination Group (OCG)

GOMO Director David Legler will chair the 15th Meeting of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) Observations Coordination Group (OCG) at the Ocean Networks Canada in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The OCG members and leaders from all the GOOS global observing networks, including Argo, global drifter program, GLOSS, SOT, OceanSites, Anibos, HF Radar, and OceanGliders, will convene to review progress over the past year; advance plans for an OCG Data Strategy;  develop further an OCG maturity framework of observing metrics; and consider the inclusion of emerging ocean observing networks such as SmartCables and SOCONET. 

During the OCG-15 meeting, the OCG will meet with the Canada Integrated Ocean Observing System (CIOOS) to discuss indigenous community engagement and ocean observing in support of marine carbon dioxide removal solutions. Ann-Christine Zinkann (GOMO) and Kevin O’Brien (CICOES) are also attending the OCG-15 meeting, leading workshops and presenting on key OCG activities.
