The role of the DAC is to collect and quality control all of the Argo data collected by US scientific and governmental institutions. After the required quality for the data is achieved, it is transmitted to the two global data assembly centers (GDAC) in Brest, France and Monterey, California, who are the only two entities entitled to distributes Argo data to the world. The target is for these “real-time” data to be available within approximately 24 hours of their transmission from the float.
