Adopt a Drifter is a unique program that teaches kids about ocean currents in real time. Scientists deploy drifting buoys that collect data on sea surface temperatures. Schools or classrooms “Adopt” one of these buoys and track its location and data online. Adopt a Drifter is science in action — giving kids an inside view of how the ocean connects us all.
