GOMO and ARP will convene several sessions during the American Geophysical Union meeting

From December 9 – 13, AGU24 returns to Washington, D.C. with the theme “What’s Next for Science.

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) annually hosts the largest gathering of Earth and space scientists, with 25,000+ attendees from 100+ countries to share research and connect with friends and colleagues. Scientists, educators, policymakers, journalists and communicators attend AGU24 to better understand our planet and environment, opening pathways to discovery, opening greater awareness to address climate change, opening greater collaborations to lead to solutions and opening the fields and professions of science to a whole new age of justice equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.

Members of GOMO’s team will convene several sessions during the meeting, including:

  • Town Hall: The Ocean Enterprise and Weather Enterprise: Collaboration Towards Improving Forecast Skill. Program Manager Cheyenne Stienbarger is an invited panelist.
  • eLightning Session C14C: Breaking the Ice: Advancing FAIR and CARE Data Principles in Polar Research. Program Manager Cynthia Garcia is the primary convener and co-chair.
  • Oral Session C32A: Weaving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility into the fabric of Polar Sciences. Knauss Fellow Alie Lepp is a co-convener and co-chair.
  • Poster Session C31A: New Technologies for Cryosphere and Polar Ocean Observations. Program Manager Cynthia Garcia is the primary convener.
  • Poster Session A53M: Observing and Modeling Extremes in the Marine Boundary Layer and Ocean Mixed Layer Poster. Program Manager Cheyenne Stienbarger is a co-convener and poster presenter.
  • The 2024 Arctic Report Card Press Conference will be held Tuesday, December 10th at 11am.
  • Analysis and coordination of ocean carbon observations within NOAA Ocean and Atmospheric Research (OAR) will be presented by Kyla Kelly on December 11th at 2:45pm at the NOAA Booth in the Exhibit Hall.
