Jessica Mkitarian / Wednesday, April 6, 2022 / Categories: News Applications Open for Dissertation Symposiums in Physical & Chemical Oceanography DISCO & PODS: Due April 22, 2022 Application Deadline: April 22, 2022 The Physical Oceanography Dissertations Symposium (PODS) XII and the Dissertations Symposium in Chemical Oceanography (DISCO) XXVIII meetings will be held in Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i from October 16-20, 2022. These symposium provides recent graduates, or soon to graduate, PhD-level oceanographers in the field of physical and chemical oceanography with an opportunity to present their dissertation research in front of their professional peers and to forge professional relationships that will facilitate their future research and academic careers. As for several of the previous meetings, PODS XII and DISCO XXVIII will run concurrently. Applications are being accepted from individuals who received their PhD after June 30, 2021 or will complete their degree before July 1, 2023. Participation is by invitation only, with participants’ travel and on-site expenses supported by the meeting sponsors. The deadline to apply is April 22, 2022. The meeting is sponsored by NSF and NOAA, and coordinated by the University of Hawai‘i. Flyers with more information are available for download below.
